"The New Significance of Chinese Culture in the Twenty-First Century" Project
Perhaps one of the most important projects in the field of Chinese Studies in which the Himalaya Foundation is involved is the international research project called "The New Significance of Chinese Culture in the Twenty-first Century." Aimed at exploring the achievements of Chinese culture and its significance in the new century, this series of 10 conferences was started in 1999 and brings together scholars from around the world and from various disciplines that present their findings at symposia held several times per year. Previous conferences were held at Stanford University and at the Academia Sinica. The project is headed by Professor Chun-Chieh Huang of National Taiwan University and by Professor Thomas H.C. Lee of the City University of New York. Professor Yi-Yuan Lee, Member of the Academia Sinica, is an honorary consultant.
The "Confucian Studies and East Asian Culture Research" Collection
This series of 30 books consists of works by academics renowned in the field of Confucian studies. Each volume examines from a different academic perspective the influence of Confucian thought in Asia.
Research Grants in Collaboration with the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange
The Himalaya Foundation has a joint grant program with the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange to support outstanding Sinology research projects.
Queens Library "The Han Collection of Scholarly Chinese Works at the Flushing Branch of the Queens Public Library in New York"
The Flushing area of the borough of Queens in New York City has a large concentration of Chinese residents, and the Flushing branch of the Queens Public Library is one of the most active public libraries in the United States. The Flushing branch public library was expanded in 1998 to accommodate the community's growing demand for its services, and a new international center was added. The Himalaya Foundation started supporting The Queens Library Foundation in 1997 for a period of five years to establish the Han Collection of Scholarly Chinese Works at the Flushing branch library's international center.
